Day 8 & 9: Massive Progress

We are in Copenhagen. More precisely checked into a sweet hotel in the middle of the city.

Yesterday we woke up in the b&b villa and got served very nice breakfast, including fresh raspberries and blue cheese. We sat around for a while, drinking tea. Then we biked off, ending up in Karlskrona. We had discussed that we'd check what bus and train connections were available. We were lucky, it was both cheap and leaving in a few minutes.

In Helsingborg, which was our destination, we sat around the central station. There I spotted a group of pickpockets/bag thieves in action. First I let the security guards know of it, and soon thereafter we could see undercover cops shadowing the pickpockets. I spent another few hours observing them and I find it so endlessly fascinating! They were working in a big group, texting to eachother, strategically placed around the place, and had a "clown" working as a diversion. They tried their best to act innocent and blend in, but it is oh so obvious when you've spotted it. Impressive and fascinating, though I obviously disagree with it and despise it.

At 22, in pouring rain, we got into a closed camping area and managed to get the tent up. While being moist to the bones. I slept surprisingly well, even in the non-stop rain and strong winds. We woke up with a few actual pools of water inside the tent!

This morning we took the ferry over to Denmark, costing only 32SEK! And the test if the day we spent biking in Denmark. It's a very big change from Sweden! Much bigger than either of us could have imagined. We feel like total tourists... quite sad, really.

The day got rounded off with the best (and most expensive) sushi I've had. It was a proper, fancy restaurant and we shared a big dish. Even getting "forced" to drink more tea than we had planned, and they charged for it. Bah. Still very very nice though.

Here be pictures. Some are older but that had failed to upload. Oh and also. I'm not sure if or when I'll be able to blog again, as I have yet to find a danish pre-paid SIM-card with internet access. We shall see what happens. Right now I have "free" internet access in the hotel.

Day 6 & 7: Ups & Downs

Sorry for the lack of a blog post yesterday. We hadn't been in contact with any power outlet for three days, and had to conserve battery power for more crucial tasks.

Yesterday we spent some time trying to find a suitable bike path to the next town, but that ended up being quite a hassle. So, we decided to ask what train and bus connections were available. Shortly after that we were sleeping on board of a bus, with our bikes in the baggage area, heading for Kalmar. There we realized that Ölandsbron is quite awesome, and that we should bike it! Sadly that turned out to be forbidden nowadays. Instead we went to the lookout area to see the massive bridge up close.

That it also when I decided to pump my tyre a bit... don't fix what isn't broken. I ended up breaking the valve, and therefore had to spend the following hour changing the entire "tube". Fun was had by all. Also,  I hate presta valves. They suck.
The day ended very late, by us finally managing to get ourselves into a closed camping area. Sleeping for free yet again! ;)

Today we had great goals in mind but the winds and some squandered plans turned the day into a shorter trip than expected. Now we've spent the evening in an awesome, newly opened, B&B. We have a whole big villa for ourselves.

Sleep awaits. Breakfast at 07 again. Peace out!

Day 5: New record

Today we were both quite into this biking thing. The worst dips and muscle aches out if the way. We alsi managed to sleep just great. Alarm was set for 06:45 and breakfast at 07.

We didn't arrive here until 21:30. Making this the longest day yet. We managed to bike about 84km in total, even though we had some absurd winds all day. Of course no helpful winds, but what else is there really to expect?

Sadly have to leave this a bit short. We just now finished a kebab pizza (with fries and lettuce) each, and we have the alarm set for 07 again. Heh. This is what it is, and secretly I'm loving it ;)

Peace out!

Day 4: Fourth-day dip

Today was tough, in many ways. Alarm went off at 07:00 and after a few seconds of doubting, I managed to get out of bed and eat a nice hot "porridge" for breakfast. Soon after that it started raining and I had to hop back into the tent.

We were both feeling very drained and under the weather. Our bodies not really being in the mood for any more cycling. Specially not when it's pouring down.

We didn't get going until past 10. Which was not quite to plan. We were however really grateful of getting offered hot water by some friendly neighbouring campers. So nice being able to eat a hot meal whenever you feel like it.

We did get spared of most of the rain, and only had to endure a few showers towards the end. But our bodies were still not enjoying the biking. We had been warned of the dip in energy and motivation the fourth day. It certainly was so.

After about only 42 kilometeres, and at around 17 o'clock, we got to a slightly bigger village. Here we knew we had to do some shopping, and while doing so, we saw enough to want to spend the night at a proper b&b. So here we are.

We just got back from a nice restaurant trip, and are now preparing for bed. Tomorrow we have a stricter plan to follow, today was too much of lazy day.

Sadly just a single picture today. Uninteresting path and some battery issues being the reason. I've also seen that many pictures end up flipped in different ways, sadly I can't help that. They are correct on my end, but end up however they feel like.

Peace Out!

Day 3: All is well!

My battery ran out before I could write yesterday's blog, so I decided on posting it now. I've been sleeping great tonight and just got up... 07:00.

Yesterday was a pretty nice day, and we had some pretty pleasurable cycling. Still not going quite as well as we had hoped for, but hopefully it'll keep getting better. We've at least biked more than 200 kilometers in total! Not all too bad in my opinion.

Here be them pictures. And as a side note, I can't control the order they're posted in, they appear in a random order.

Peace out!

Day 2: Attack of the wild boars!

Really need a few hours of sleep now. Got virtually no sleep last night due to it being too cold, and because of having wild boars right near the tent. We could hear their sounds all night, and saw their hoofprints in many places. Pretty scary I tell you!

We decided on staying in Nyköping for the night, at a b&b (Nyköpings Vandrarhem). So, less progress than we had wished for today. Fever and sunburns for us both, this is pretty darn demanding! Just as expected. And we've been having absolutely mad food cravings. We're eating insane amounts of food and other devourables! (Family size Vietnamese dish, chocolate muffin and a donut for just the evening. For me alone)

Here be some pictures!
